Running & Gait Assessment

Optimize Your Stride. Prevent Injury. Run With Confidence.

What is Running & Gait Analysis?

Our Running & Gait Analysis is a comprehensive, clinician‑led assessment designed to help runners of all levels move more efficiently, reduce injury risk, assist in figuring out the root cause for any aches and pains, and improve performance. Whether you’re recovering from an injury, preparing for a race, or simply looking to run with better form, this evaluation provides the insight you need to run your best.

What’s Included:

1. Detailed Performance & Injury History: Before getting moving in this assessment, we really want to take the time to get to know and understand you. Without acknowledgement of where you have been and where you want to go, we can’t focus the right energy and emphasis on the assessment. We will examine what you have been through both as a person and runner to delve deeper within our exam to highlight trouble areas and to keep an eye on areas of improvement based on our discussion.

2. Clinical Movement Assessment:  One of our licensed clinical physical therapists will evaluate your strength, flexibility, mobility, balance, and functional movement patterns to identify underlying contributors to pain or inefficiency as well as opportunities for improvement.

3. High‑Speed Video Analysis:  We capture your running mechanics from multiple angles using slow‑motion video and specialty software to provide informative metrics and data vital to what comes after your gait analysis. This allows us to examine stride length, cadence, foot strike, hip and knee alignment, trunk control, and overall running form with precision.

4. Footwear Review:  Your current running shoes are assessed for shoe wear patterns, support, and compatibility with your feet, body type, and gait. We provide guidance on footwear selection based on your unique mechanics and training goals.

5. Biomechanical Breakdown:  Your therapist will analyze the video frame‑by‑frame as well as other data gathered during the clinical movement assessment to identify compensations, asymmetries, and technique issues that may contribute to pain or limit performance.

6. Report of Findings Presentation & Personalized Training/Technique Plan:  Following the running and clinical movement assessment, you will receive a detailed document pointing out what is going well and what needs work along with a customized plan that may include suggestions for:
• Strengthening and mobility exercises
• Running‑form cues
• Cadence recommendations
• Return‑to‑run or mileage‑progression plans
• Footwear suggestions
• Strategies to reduce injury risk and improve efficiency

7. Follow‑Up Guidance:  We review your results with you in detail and outline clear next steps. Optional follow‑up sessions allow us to reassess your progress and refine your plan as needed.
